Thursday evening. Was out on Tonka. caught a bunch of crappie and sunnies from sunset to 8:30 P.M. around an island in about 18 feet of water using fat heads for crappie on a plain hook. waxies on a red tear drop for sunnies.
Was out on Buffalo on Friday evening in aprrox. 15 to 23 feet of water using shinners on a plain or colored hook. Fat head didn't seem to do the job. No crappie at this spot but a friend picked up a few, a short distance away in 40 feet.
Was back out on Tonka all day Sat. guiding 2 groups. In the A.M we could only find the sunnies and no pike.
In the P.M we moved next to a different island and caught pike from 3 to 8 lbs. and missed a couple.
The sunnie bite was going great guns on waxies and the color of jig was changing by the hour or sometimes less.
Green or red were the colors of choice. Try to fool them with orange jig and forget it.
They wouldn't take it. Black did okay for the short time I tried it.
