Leech Lake Fishing Report
November 05, 2009
I stayed at a place in Isle Harbor by Federal Dam and my report is going to sound like most of the recent reports on Leech right now. It was cold but not too windy this week. It snowed some everyday from the 9th through the 14th with a couple of inches on the 10th and the 14th. Water temps ranged from 37 to 43 while I was there with it mostly being 39 or 40. We fished from 4' to 20+' of water and couldn't find a consistent bite at any depth. Ended up catching some walleyes, northerns and perch with a jig and minnow. They seemed to prefer the smaller minnows and slow speeds. They bit best when we were moving .5 MPH or less. We did find one breakline where we were able to catch at least 1 walleye and up to 4 each day between 11 am and 12:30 then it was over. Boats were moving a lot and everyone I talked to said it was slow with many of the locals not even trying. They were all duck or grouse hunting.
