Hit the rivers with two buddies Sunday and Yesterday. Started at the Poplar and ended at the Stewart. Northern rivers were cold, high and tough to fish. Plus it was 30 degrees out when we got there at 5:45. Decided to try some smaller rivers. Great call on my part. I ended up with 14 hooked and 7 of those landed. Plus I had to give up and snap off a 30" plus hen at the end of the day when she took off down river with me having nowhere to go. 2 Fish landed out of 5 hooked for another friend and Skunked all together for the other. Yesterday ended being a beautyfull day to be on the river. Not a cloud in the sky and the fish were inhaling the yarn fies.

And I know that I wasn't the only one out this last weekend. Is anyone else doing very well. I would assume that the next week or two is going to be the prime run. Has anyone else been getting anything.

Note: New DNR rule to clarify Photograph of fish.
Fish may not be taken to shore and placed on shore for pictures.
This is not in the rule book, it is that new.
You will get busted.

Nice fish, but as mentioned you should never put those fish on the dirt and gravel just a get a picture law or not, there just isn't enough of them around to take the chance of damaging them. After you catch enough, you will end up like my buddies and myself, and will stop taking pics altogether to make it easier on the fish.

Yes nice fish, but that rule change is ment for fish that are required to be released. Those were clearly unclipped steelhead.
You may get pics while holding but not on shore, then fish must be put back in the water. Also what is placed on the web stays there. Any pics of illegal activity can be used to convict even
if DNR did not see or catch you at the time.Lets all obey the law
and not be like that guy who shot his kid. Actions like that give us all a bad name.

Phil lets not drag that sad situation in with placing fish on shore for pics. I see no comparison there. To compare laying a fish on shore with taking a life is just silly to me.

Are you comparing puttin a fish on the ground to photograph to the man who shot his kid? I agree it could be harmful to the fish but come on....

That is just ridiculous. So if i'm standing on shore and catch a fish, i have to walk into the water if i would like to have someone take a picture of it. Just stop now with that garbage before you make even more friends here.

Sorry the comparison is Unlawfull behavior.
That guy had no lic. was tresspasing was drunk and had been smoking pot. I also know someone who got nailed for not imediatly
releasing a fish, he took its picture.

Sorry Phil, but that is not a good comparison at all and has no place here.

Nice fish Berky.

I took a look at the Web-Site which was updated 5-1-08 and could not find anything about it.

Another thing is that I was fishing by my self becuase my buddies went to another stretch of the river with the [PoorWordUsage] net. It was landed on shore. Put the rod down, took the picture, unhooked and released. This took all of 45 secs. at most. Now when I watch you catch a fish walk half way up the river with it in a net, have your buddy fumble around for a minute because now you ruined his fishing, finally get a picture with his camera and then get it back in the water 5 minutes later, I'll come after you alot harder. Even on the pic of the hen I couldn't get the hook out in a quick amount of time so I clipped it and she swam away with it.

If things keep going the way they are pretty soon all the TREE HUGGERS and CIDIOTS(no-offense) that THINK they know what they are talking about, We won't be able to use nets to get the fish in because that stresses them also. I have seen more damage done to a fish improperly netted(ripped gill plates) by some [PoorWordUsage] idiot not knowing what he was doing. Knowing know that it is illegal I won't be doing it again!

And thanks to those for ruining the post.
And thanks to those for the support.

I am sorry this got long but some people have no reasons to say somthing.

Get a glove, then you wont need a net. Fillet glove from rapala, better than a net. Just grab them around the tail hold em up and put em back. Who cares if you lose them next to your feet can't keep them anyway...
