Wondering if anyone could tell me about fishing in central Maine. I'm moving out there, and would like to continue fishing. I'll have a fly rod and all my other gear, however I will be on foot/ fishing from shore. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

hello, i am from minnesota, i used to live in maine in the southern part in a town called waterboro. i can tell you to try belgrade chain of lakes big lakes connected to each, it has muskies, chain pickeral, large mouth bass and salmon. others types, it has a few lake trout. but in the northern part of the state on this one river system it has huge smallies i know i hit a 8lb smallmouth bass on this river, the river is called penobscot, it dumps into the ocean, go to lincoin maine get to midway, that whole area is really good for smallies and atlantic salmon. where i used to live in waterboro theirs serval lakes one called osspiee lake that hold huge lakers, and trout too boot. the next one is lake arrowhead on the north east side of ossipee. that one has tons of great fishing there too. this lake hold big sunnies i have one that hit nearly 2 lbs. this 3rd lake lake thats really huge is seabago lake bigger the mille lacs, plus really deep like 200 ft deep, this lake has bass chain pickeral, sunnies in the shallows. togue or lakers also. white perch in most lake there. tons of yellow perch, sorry no walleyes i heard rumors of crappies are showing up in some lakes. if u like to chat more just email at flamefox2010@yahoo.com i still do have some family out there.

I also grew up in Maine, Bethel (Newery to be exact). My dad and I fished for brookies mainly in the White Mountain National Forest. He worked for the USFS, so we spent a lot of time on the weekends "working" in the Gorham area. Lots of brookies, pickeral and bass to be had in that area. The Wild and Pleasant rivers were good to us if my memory serves me.
