Through the ideas of fellow members it has put in motion to form an Ice Shanty Neighborhood Watch program.

Here are the details:

Everyone is tired of hearing how ice houses are being broken into, vandalized, stolen, or just trashed. So in an effort to help combat this unfortunate reality a Neighborhood Watch Program has been started.

The Fishing Minnesota folks have graciously allowed us to use the HSO Logo and are also going to set a post on this forum for members to go on say where there shanties are going to be located this winter. The intention is for other members that are fishing the same lakes to keep an eye out for those houses and help keep an eye on them when the owners are not using them. The hopes are to keep vandalism and theft to a minimum.

In conjunction with the forum there are going to be decals available to members for placement in the windows of their respective fish houses. The stickers will have a place for the owners name and phone number, so incase of foul play they can be notified. The decals will also help identify those fish houses owned by FM and HSO members.

Members are encouraged to watch out for other members and notify authorities if they see any unusual activity around the shanty towns. Also get any info possible, like vehicle make, model, Lic Plate numbers, number of people seen or anything else that would be helpful.

The decals are going to be 3"x4", full color and made of vinyl for durability. There should be no problem getting them by the Mod Get Together on the 23rd.

The cost of the decals looks to be $1.00 each. The fee is merely to cover the cost of manufacture and disbursement. This is not intended to be a money maker of any type and nobody is going to make any profit from this.

Also the minimum quantity of decals we can order is 500 so we are looking for 20 people to buy 25 decals at $1.00 each. In turn those 20 people can sell them to others for $1.00 each getting their money back.

It has been decided to use the HSO Logo for 2 reasons:
1) The logo stands out and is extremely visible.
2) The cost would basically double if both logos were used.

Those folks willing to purchase 25 decals please email me at lovetohunt@clearwire.net and I will give you the address to send the money for them. I will keep a running list of folks with stickers on this post so others can contact the nearest member for their sticker.

Ok, just got the sickers home. They are 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 a nice size for the shacks,The color/decal came out fawless and will show up from from a long way.These are high qualty decals and I'm proud to show my suport of the shanty watch by puting them on my shack.

I cannot make it this Saturday, is there anyway a guy can get these without going?

Just a question and I am not sure if you will know the answer but is the sticker fade resistant? Will it last just 1 season? Yellow and Magenta burn out and since there is alot in the logo you may want to ask. There are special pigments they can use that don't fade/burn out as fast. Granted it is just for the fish house and they are cheap enough but it would be nice to have them last awhile.
