This is my first time out with using the manual setting, at Glacial lakes state park. Comments welcome.

1/200 f5 ISO200

I believe this one should've had some sun setting color in the sky.

1/640 f4.5 ISO200

My favorite.

The colors are very appealing. I had a similar outing this morning, and love the colors of this time of year. I was not brave enough to use manual settings, however.

They are all nice but I agree the third shot is the best.

Nice shots, Im in agreement with #3 - some pp could turn that into an excellent shot.

Manual settings arent as daunting as they may seem. Here are some simple rules, in non-technical terms.

A smaller aperture (larger number) will give you a greater amount of depth in focus, but a slower shutter speed. Conversely, a larger aperture (smaller number) will allow shorter shutter speeds because more light is let in.

A higher ISO will allow you to speed up your shutter to a more hand-holdable limits, using the same aperture in the same lighting conditions.
