Are the auger buckets worth it...? Do they do a good job keeping the slush and water off the floor....?

I don't have one yet but I have heard a lot of good things about them. When I build my new wheelhouse I will definitely be getting one.

They are worth it. They work great, I bought one last year and would not go without one again.

Yes, they are worth it when the ice gets thick. Early season you don't really feel like they're needed, but later in the winter you're pulling up a lot of ice and the slush buckets keep the floor a lot cleaner than without. I used one from the company that makes Catch Covers and it worked great. A lot less mess after drilling holes.

They are a great tool for a permanent shack, keeps things dry.

Flip them over...and ya got a impromptu latrine too...adding a pail under it is wise. smile

Good question USMC. I have only seen pictures of these. Anyone have a video of one of these in action? I'm trying to picture how these work. Just a 10 inch hole in the bottom of a small sled, drill your hole, pull auger out. Doesn't the slush and water just spill out the hole or is there some kind of slid? Probably silly questions for those that have one but I'm curious.

best thing we ever bought. The only thing is when you have a good amount of ice you will have to dump it a couple times. But its better than a wet, sloppy big pile of shavings on the floor.

This is one in action.

The raised internal colar keeps the slush from racing back into the hole. Just skid it or carry it out the door and spread it out on the ice. Or put it in the corner and use it as a beer ice chest or cooler. wink

Did you glue some kind of collar on the inside to keep slush from falling back out?

As far as I'm concerned, they are a must have in a permanent. They work great, and if you add the Strikemaster Slushmaster, you don't even have to scoop any ice out of the holes. I've got both and the slushmaster saves me about 15 minutes worth of scooping ice out of the holes when the ice is thick.

Agreed - must have in a perm shack with lots of ice - slush inhaler, slush bucket, and an electric auger is what I use.
