Water temps 43. Weeds are starting to lie down. We were trolling from 1.4 to 2mph. The faster speed produced better. Started out with HJ12 sized sticks but nothing doing. PJ switched to an HJ10 and immediately got a few strikes but no hookups. I soon followed suit. Big fish of night was a 28+" eye that was massively thick. 9lbs and maybe more. Looked like the walleye in my avatar. We tried a lot of colors but nothing in particular there. The smaller stickbait was the key.

Thanks for the report Mark. Do you ever contact Muskie or Pike trolling those stick baits?

I'm taking my wife and kid out Saturday and haven't decided between Tonka, P4 or the croix.

We usually land a few nice pike each year, and have had people catch muskies right next to us. But so far this year we have not boated a pike or seen s muskie.

We usually get out there around 5:30-6:00. Sometimes later. We stay until the fish stop biting.

I was out during the day today with the family. I was suprised to find the Grays Bay Launch was packed.

Spent most of my time chasing a 2 year old around the boat and throwing snacks at him but we did troll a decent amout with Deep HJs and Reef Runners and came up empty. Most of the fish I marked were in the 20 to 30 foot range.

Talked to 2 groups at the landing and both got skunked also (or at least told me they did anyway wink )

Great day to be on the water.

That's weird that Grays was packed but this is some nice weather. I'm thinking of running out there later today.

Docks/buoys are out I take it?

was out this afternoon/eve went thru a couple of 30' holes and marked very few fish. what i did find was very specific. in 15.5 - 17 fow there were fish stacked from 7-14 feet, but, if you were out side of these depths. it seemed like they were non exsistant. had one very big hook up got three winds on it and it was off. was definatly a fish there was a slow head shake and not much gain on the reel. we threw the box at them. my hit was on a hj12 with a couple of split shots about 5' up to get it deep.trolling about 1.7. ... paul
