If Big Bay is dropping by 1.8 degrees/day, that would put turnover at Friday (assuming 39 degrees = turnover). With the winds dying off a bit, that rate might slow, but overnight temps are low enough that it won't slow by much. I'd say turnover of Big Bay happens this weekend sometime.

Anyone know of historical info on turnover date?

There was ice next to the dock on the Pike Bay webcam this morning. I had 15 degrees here. You are correct on 39 degrees as being the true turnover but I think it is farther off than this weekend especially with the warm up forecast for the weekend. Two weeks maybe...

I think that Silverscale is probably close in his estimation of the turnover time. It will be at least another week!

I had ice out to about 100' from shore this morning, after the wind direction change it left.

Big Bay temp up-date? I'm coming up tomorrow for 5 days of fishing. The lower the water temp the happier I am!

I had 38 degrees off the end of my dock in Pike bay on Wednesday. We had to break the ice for about 100 yards to get out. It was all gone 3 hours later when we came back.

Big bay was in the mid 40's in most of the areas we checked out. Highs in the 50's over the weekend should keep it at or around that temp for a few days.

Should be some great trolling for Muskies this week.

Cliff or any one that's been on the lake in the last day or so...

...any water temp update for the east end?

I'm coming up for one last musky fling this weekend and hoping to see the magic number '39'. Cold water seems to make those fish intoxicated.

Hope I can find 'em...

Thx!

Brian

I haven't been out but I would say it has been too warm during the day to be quite that low yet in most of the lake... my guess would be 3rd and 4th week of Nov it will be 38-39 just ready to freeze... Prolly low 40's still... Idk for sure though..

I pulled my boat for the winter a few days ago, so no new water temp reports, sorry!
I think that Casey is probably close on the temps though.
