Not sure if i should have posted in the permanent thread about winterizing, but feel free to move this post there if admin. wants.

Anyways, about to winterize my '09 Tohatsu, and was debating leaving the oil alone. I changed my oil after 20 hours, breaking in the new motor, and only have about another 30 hours on it (since july). With such low hours the oil is so clean and in prime condition. I am using Amsoil by the way. I am pretty certain no water would be mixed in....So should i feel good/safe about just changing the gear oil and so on, while leaving the engine oil sit all winter?

Thanks

With only 10 hours on the 'new' oil, I'd leave it alone -- IMO, it would be a waste of $ to change it so soon and not necessary.

I would think it would be fine for the winter and then change it in the spring.

I would change it. Even though it looks nice and pretty there are still 30 hours worth of contaminates in it. Leaving it sit all winter will allow the acids in the oil time to work their magic.

My $.02.

I'd change it. Not worth saving a few bucks or worrying about your engine all winter. Good luck.

+2 for Boilerguy. Change it. It is worth the cost.

Yea, yea, yea...you guys just don't want me too be so lazy! Lol. I would much rather spend 8 bucks for new oil then take any chances with my baby (i mean motor, sorry honey!). Good Amsoil is just hard to waste!
