Managed to limit out this morning and saw lots of birds flying. Saw quite a few buffies, goldies, redheads, bills and mallards. A buddy went this afternoon and said they were moving good.

Made a trip over to Green Bay(the bay, not the city) the last two days. Very cool hunt. Did not shoot a ton of ducks, but it was fun just watching the thousands of divers flying around the bay. I have never hunted big water like that or seen as many birds. The birds we got included bluebills, redheads, goldeneye, bufflehead, gadwall, green-wing teal, and ringneck.

Jumped a private slough that I have permission on about 0830 this morning.

Kicked about 20 Mallards up.

Did not shoot, hoped they would come back.

15 minutes or so later they started to filter back.

Let the first few land and then BANG BANG BANG.

2 Plump Green Heads hit the water.

While the dog was retrieving them a single Mallard dropped in and did not get away.

3 Plump Greenheads for 30 minutes of work.

Also forgot to mention I shot a ruddy duck on monday, though it was a hen. Never even seen one of those before.

I thought shooting a ruddy is like shooting a coot. They can hardly even fly. I could have shot a boat load of em in ND but saved the cooler space for Mals, bills, and snows. =) Always fun to add another species to the list tho.

The one i shot came in like a normal diver. They can move pretty good if they are going with the wind

Got out this morning on the river, shot just one mallard, 1 shot the whole day = duck to the taxiderist! thats all i saw for ducks other than a pair of mallards that cam by before shooting and then a couple small groups of geese aswell... thats it.

11-7 I saw plenty of birds. The ducks weren't cooperating with my decoys, ended up with two mallards. Geese were flying all around, not to me, but around. Pass-shot two small ones. The deer hunters in the area were doing well from the sound of it.

11-8 no ducks would come to my decoys, geese were still flying though. Ended up with 1 large goose that made the mistake of flying over me, was big enough I weighed it just to see. 13lb 5oz. smile

3 Mallards this morning.

Notice a larger than usual number of ducks in and around slough I have permission on.

Most of them wanted nothing to do with decoys.

Saw a flock of 14 Wood Ducks.

Saw lots of birds this morning the only positive Id I could make for certain was a trio of goldeneyes just of of gun range
many other unknown divers stacked up in the middle of the lake

only birds to decoy where a seagull and a flock of 6 swans

after the hunt I tried to glass the lake , and they seemed to vanish into the chop

6 mallards for 2 of us this morning and a bonus gadwall wink Thought it was going to be an easy limit but it turned from ducks everywhere to ducks no-where real quick...

Yest saw a lot of ducks but not wanting much to do with anyones decoys. They stopped in for a drink away from every bird or decoy in sight, got up and went back to their business. Did manage a couple along with a couple missed opps... But thats a given on any duck hunting trip. Not nearly as many ducks as usual on opening of deer season. WIth no major weather coming i'm not expecting it to get any better anytime soon....

Out in WC MN, in Ashby. Christina was pretty much empty, and I was hunting small lake that hard birds working on Saturday, but they just didn't want into my decoys, they wanted a quiet corner of the lake. I shot one ringbill, nice drake.

Sunday morning I set up where they were the day before, and lake was like glass until about 8:30. I shot 3 ringbill only, but the good thing is I basically shot every one I shot at, and darn near every duck I even saw. They just weren't back. Hardly any ducks in the sky, but saw lots of geese, lots and lots of geese.

Deer hunting next weekend. Hope you all still have some good hunts, my ducking might be over unless I start to see more after next weekend.

I witnessed 300- 400 mallards pouring in to an area lake in saturday evening while I was fishing.
I set up Sunday morning quietly with out light and made as little distubance as possible.
come first light the where gone! not a one on the lake
and there where some goldeneyes on the lake as well as a few other divers that werent there the evening before , are they more nocturnal ? the flights I have seen has been high and look to have no Intrest in landing hard to gauge how many birds have gone over already . but the best is yet to come 4 sure!
