Wrong. The estimated 2010 census is showing a decrease in the population growth. So, the population is still growing, but it's just a decrease in the growth rate. A little different than a population decrease.

Wrong. The estimated 2010 census is showing a decrease in the population growth. So, the population is still growing, but it's just a decrease in the growth rate. A little different than a population decrease. In addition to Minnesota, states projected to lose a seat are Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. New York and Ohio are expected to lose two seats apiece. Texas is forecast to gain four seats and Arizona will likely add two. One-seat gainers are Florida, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina and Utah. Minnesota's population has grown 0.8 percent a year since 2000, Gillaspy said. While that's among the fastest growth rates for Midwestern and northeastern states, it's below the 1 percent national average growth. The highest-growth states are in the South and West.

that state has been holding back on paying wade increases for a lot of state employees that past 2-3 years. Sure the upper end state admin people are paid good, but good luck if you are in the middle of the pack or if you have maxed out your wade classification in your current job.

Didn't the light rail cost 1,000,000,000? Didn't they raise the education budget by 1,000,000,000? Bottom line is 75-80% of the budget is education and Social Services...they wont touch those with a ten foot pole!!!!!! GET READY TO PAY MORE!!!! Also, does anyone ever wonder why your company stays in MN? We debate this often where I work (Toro bloomington) and wonder why they don't move to Wyoming, Southern Missouri, South Dakota etc.,. If you are a business owner, I would love to hear the reasons you stay. Thanks

Typically the plusses for businesses here are a well-educated work force with a good work eithic. The "amenities" we have in the Twin Cities are also a plus for attracting professionals vs. the other places you mentioned.

If I'm not mistaken the number of house seats is not dependent on the population per se but more on the overall percentage of national population. If we were granted a seat per every X number of people, the total number of house seats would have to have increased over the decades as our nations population has incresed but it remains 435 today as it has always been. Our state population is still increasing but the percentage of national population that we hold is not. This is because our population growth is slower than the rest of the nation.

Nice site for info...I think that's 17% total workers in Mn represented by Unions not just State Employees...although most State, County, and City employees are represented by unions... Then again that's just about all the strong Unions left...
