I agree with you 100%....lots of wolf tracks. And I think that all of the wolf activity pressured the deer out of the area. I did not see anywhere close to the number of deer that I have seen in the past.

The numbers are growing more and more every year near Hackensack and Longville.

I hunt near Longville and saw for the first time in hunting the same area for 15 years a big timber wolf that was well fed also heard alot of howling in the mornings. I also noticed less deer tracks, beds, rubs, and scrapes that equals less deer.

I hunt southwest of Longville and we are seeing fewer deer and more wolves every year. I know some guys who hunt up by remer and they saw more wolves than deer while deer hunting this year. It's a real problem.

Beardown, Right in that same area, about 6 years ago already, I took a late night walk to the commode. It was on an icefishing trip to the cabin. Just for S&G I did a little howling about 11:30 PM, and I got a couple answers. They couldn't have been more than a 1/4 mile back in the brush and that definitely put a little spring in my step! Still stands the hairs on my neck up! Phred52

Funny you bring it up. We hunt a little North of Walker and are seeing the same thing. We have also talked to a lot of the surounding deer camps and they are as well. If we aren't careful we are in the makings of a perfect storm. Bonus tags, wolves, rough winter and our deer heard could take a real hit.

MNVIKING, I know the field that you are talking about. We drive by it all the time. I know the guys that hunt the property to the SW of that field where the majority of those deer would bed. They were telling me that those animals are gone. They own a ton of property and keep very close tabs on the deer that are on their property. They feel that thier doe heard is half of what it was last year. These guys would know too. They take thier deer hunting very serious, as do we. You wouldn't fish with slimmy a lot would you? Your photo looks framiliar.
