When I checked monday there was a small open hole in the channel near the landing, but the rest of the lake was frozen. I've seen porty's out there every day this week.

Duck Lake and red rock are frozen up, but I haven't been to check it out yet. I will be this weekend. Round lake still had an open hole over the deep spot.

CARDFAN, I only checked the right hand side out towards the point probably 150 ft. I didn't make it to the east end. How late can we park in that lot/fish on that lake? I've never fished it at night.

I've never had a problem staying there but I dont stay very late either, usually just fish sunnies. But I've driven by on Hwy 5 and seen lanterns out there. I don't know why a person couldn't stay there overnite if they wanted, just watch for the breakins while your fishing.
I'll be out there late afternoon today.

I know that there was a problem with break-ins at the Mitchell Lake parking lot last winter, so I wouldn't leave anything too valuable in the car. Its a sad thing that we have to worry about it in the SW metro, but thats life I suppose...

Wow. Didn't know that. You would think with the amount of police in that city that park's would be somewhat protected. If the problem persists they should really stake it out and catch those hoodlums. Like bloomington pd was doing at black dog last year...

There aren't that many police in Eden Prairie all the time. You'd be surprised.

The park will not be closed at night, but there are hours in the park. You probably won't run into trouble as far as being after hours, but I agree you should avoid leaving valuable items in your car.

It sucks that cars are getting broken into, but that landing is so far off the main roads there its tough to enforce.

I dinked around on Mitchell a little bit this morning. Ice was 4.5 to 5" and seemed fairly consistent. Caught some chips and got blown off the lake.

I just drove by to check Riley yesterday. Still had a large area of open water on the west end. The east end was completely froze up. Didn't walk out to check any thickness. I was hoping to get out there this weekend but I'm not chancing it.
