Haven't heard anything about a wind sail race. That might be kind of cool to watch.

Bob,

Found this on the Osakis web site.

There will be an international ice boating regatta held on Lake Osakis this weekend (Dec. 5-7) with both adult and children sailors involved in the competition. Lake access will be by the downtown public access.

I was in one of the local convenience stores on Tuesday and the owner told me this race was expected to draw international ice boat racers who do this seriously, its not just a bunch of guys who down a few drinks and strap skates to their dingy while holding a bed sheet (no thats not meant to imply I've done that).

So it should be pretty fun to watch.

So, how was it, Sportfish? Sounds like a challenge. I'd probably be up to trying it but I'd probably break something in the process.

Ok, now that we have the dates established, does anyone know the hours each day that they will be racing?

Retired if your brother comes up over Christmas to fish then we talked last year. Do you have a wheel house? We have the red 4-wheeler and brown house.

My brother put his 7'x12'permanent house about an hour ago on Osakis on the north end! He reports 7" of clear ice!

Retired, I saw 3 pick-ups driving from battle across to the winter public access in the trees and weeds. We had 9 inches. Fishing wasn't that good and the wind didn't help matters. A little disappointed on Saturday, I was fishing in the shallow water and having a little luck and someone decides to move his house out at 4:30. He drives his ranger and house right by checking the ice depth with auger every 20ft. If he would have just ask I would have told him he was close enough. Needless to say the fish left my area. I left at 3 today and he never even showed to fish. thanks buddy

Went out on Saturday 8-10am and 4-6pm, had 7-8 inches of ice on the northern arm. Tried 7' thru 15' and could only get perch to bite. Heard later maybe the walleyes were around 20'.

callaway,

I saw the two of you out there fighting the winds. Also saw the guy move that big two piece house out by you. There still hasn't been anyone out there that I have seen. I think the fishing should get better now that we have some snow cover on the ice. Are you the father or the son?

retired,

I'm the son. Don't think pops knows how to turn on the computer. I've met the owner of the two piece house last year and he is good people, I think he didn't realize what had happened, not a big deal. Just wondering if ice ridge growing at all, wanted to head out onto unchartered winter waters for me. I would rather locate fish in different areas than sit in one spot with no options.

Didn't get out there today, my other half wanted to do some shopping. We got some fresh snow today and from what I could see from my house there was a stretch of the ice ridge that looked a little dark between the fish house that was moved out there and Battle Point. Closer to the fish house. Looked like the fresh snow may have been getting a little wet. The rest looked ok. There have been people driving over it on the west side with ATV's.
