I moved to the cities a couple of years ago and I'm sick of driving back north to fish. My wife grew up in St. Paul and she fished Demontreville, Bald Eagle and White Bear Lake. I read the DNR fish reports and nothing really jumped out at me.
I tend to like quiet lakes and crappies. Any ideas?

Missingnorth1, I'm a transplant here as well but have been hear for eight years. If you want better numbers in crappies, you can head to bayport on the St. Croix. Better fishing but there will be some crowds. I also like to head up to the chisago area for fishing on ice. Little farther drive, but better than most of the metro lakes. If you're interested in getting out together this year, shoot me an email at shane at chasintailfishin dot com.
