My wife is making me go ice fishing in Dec. Ha ha, what torture. We are planning to go to the NW angle on Flag Island. PLan is to go the weekend beofre Christmas. LOW forum is too big. I like the size of the Rainy forum and the great expertise and tips from the local experts.

Were hoping for good ice so we can get out to the Island.

We are thinking and trip or 2 to Rainy will be in order as well.

I am on the Eve of Wisconsins gun deer opener but I am thinking ICE.

Hopkins Bay had no ice at 8:00 AM yesterday. By 11:00 AM, the bay was iced over as far as I could see.

My friend has a cabin on Lynx Island in Black Bay. We are looking to come up there in a couple weeks and hit up some early walleye action. Any reports on ice depth? Will the ice be thick enough to drive on by then?

Tried to walk out from Causeway on North Arm yesterday. Pack ice all along shore. I only went out a short ways and ice already down to 3 inches so went home. -20 last night so should be thickening up fast since there was little snow on top yesterday.
