Talked to a buddy tonight who was out there. Said the fishing was a little slow but he found a good seven inches of ice. There will be an idiot who drives out there this weekend. Be safe.

well i fished rice today, and did pretty darn well!! i caught my limit of nice crappies, and managed to get 4 walleyes for the frying pan to! good day

caught the eye's off of the island bout 12 ft on tip ups, crappies were scattered, anywhere from 15-20ft

do guys fish rice often for walleyes. I really never targeted walleyes in the lake, I have always hit the river.
I tried a few nights around opener, along the sand island, and near the rocky island. Then I tried trolling weed edges. But all I could get where sun fish, on crawlers.
Never tried for walleyes on rice in the winter. Maby some day I will give it a try.
p.s I was out there today caught limit of Scrappies.

i wasnt reallt trying for walleyes either.  haha they were just hitting the tip ups!

i fished rice again this morning and caught my limit of crappies, had 2 flags, but nothing on either of them, dont know if it was a little walleye that couldnt fit the shiner in his mouth or what.
