Minnetonka ...access?

I fished minnetonka a little bit this summer (Dock of course ><) and would like to hit it up this winter.
Are there any good landings that I can access the lake on? I know there's one by "grays bay?" but I will be on foot and don't really want to talk a mile. Hopefully one where I can park on land... I don't want to drive the new truck on the ice if I can help it!
Thanks guys!

With 3 exceptions you can use all the minnetonka ramps in the way your talking about like if you want to park and pull a sled out or something. The first exception is Grays on the south side (the motorized ramp). It is closed for the season and gated shut. But right accross from it on the other side of the bridge is the non motorized access which never closes and is a popular winter access. A word of warning though avoid the area under and around the bridge because current = thin ice. In fact it's the reason they close the other one because they can't ensure the ice to be safe enough to use. The second exception is the one at the Wayzata yacht club. It closes for the season and for good reason because the aerators under the docks keeps the ice very thin or non exsistent. However just a half a block west there is a fire lane that can be used to access the lake. But you have to park on the lakes edge or on the paved city street. There is no parking on the fire lane itself and they will ticket and tow. The third exception is the access at the Lake Minnetonka regional park on the west side. It too closes for the season because they don't want to maintain the road going down to the ramp because it's too steep. One other access of note is in Mound. Just before you get to the bridge to Enchanted island there is a small ramp. It's a popular winter access for fishing Phelps Bay. But be warned, do not PARK at the access. The sign at the ramp says; "Parking for vehicles with trailers only" and the Mound police enforce it YEAR ROUND! So park on the edge and make sure all four tires are touching ice or hook up a small little utility trailer of some kind. It doesn't have to be a boat trailer either the sign dosen't specify that. Just any trailer that's licenced for the road. They've been making money off of that deal for years and the ticket is over $50! Everywhere else around the lake the cops are cool about it. That same sign about trailer parking is at all the other ramps too but they let it slide in winter because common sense tells them it only applies to the open water season. Good luck!

Seton Lake and Black Lake on Minnetonka (Spring Lake Park area) you can park on the side of ther road and walk straight onto the ice.

I was going to suggest Blacks also, you can park on the road between Blacks and Spring Park Bay, and it's only a short walk out to several spots in Blacks. Just stay away from the bridge.

speaking of black lake, are they fishing on the ice there yet? Not that I've seen yet. There was still open water there last week. I was going to wait until Saturday and go check things out with a spud bar.

I drove by the grays bay access yesterday on 101. The Wayzata bay side was wide open with some ice accumilation flanking 101 and in front of the bridge area, but Grays bay was all iced over and a couple people out there fishing in the middle of the bay. What a weird sight that was.

one time we had the house on the outside of deephaven beach, and we were in a permenent with waves blown in a 100yds away. N-N.E. wind, gotta keep an eye on the wind.. And dont go on vacation when the house is out and the ice is questionable!
