Dissapointed that the Silver Carp has reached another milestone in its intrusion and is now in Minnesota.
I just wanted to know what people think the impact could be on catfish? Catfish are a hearty bunch but do rely on many smaller aquatic species for food. I'm wondering how long before we could see these fish as high as the Twin Cities and pool 2.
I'm not looking forward to trying to dodge root balls, logs, and the occasional 60lb carp. I don't want to have to add a Silver Carp rider onto my boat insurance. I guess I'll need full windshield glass coverage also eh?

I'm thinking chicken wire. Make your boat look like a red neck batting cage!

Do you have a source or anything? Very disappointing news.

Wow that is really a bummer. I'm sure they'll make their way down the Minnesota River down here to Mankato as well. Good thing I don't boat the river!

I was never a big fan of a fish barrier, because it would be useless as soon as the fish made it over. This could be a blessing saving us from a costly boondoggle.
I think we should have an open sporting clays/fish season on them. Great tune up for springing teal. Suspend the rule on firing from a moving boat and require steel shot and no shooting unless 500 feet from another boat or building. Only a few people will accidently hurt themselves goofing with Darwin's police. Feed the dead to pigs. Fish, that is.
Just a modest proposal. Hans

C'mon now, you know somewhere someone is making money off of doing that exact thing: For $200/hour, you bring your bow, we provide the boat and gas, here's a helmet and a chest protector, we attach a line to you and the boat, shoot those F'ers!

The irony of it is that they were brought here in the 70's by Catfish farmers!
