I have about 3 year old eskimo auger I put a carb kit in it because it was leaking gas. Got the carb kit in had it running good outside inthe yard but but I took it to the lake gonna see how much ice there was and now it will only run on what is primed up than it dies? I followed the diagram that I was given when I bought the kit what am i doing wrong?

On mine last year the feed line from the tank cracked and had to be replace, worked fine after that.

Remember that most of the fuel tanks on these augers you are having problems with have vents on the fuel cap. Make sure that you open the vent before you run the engine.

You also need to make sure that when your carb is adjusted (high idle low idle) that its cold outside, if you adjust it to run in a warm enviroment ie. a heated place, it wont run right in the cold.

mine is about 10 years old and i found that i have to leave choke in middle setting. feather throttle once it starts for quite a few minutes. sometimes hit primer when it bogs down. idid get carb kit but after few times right back to this procedure.
also the output shaft is loose coming out of gear box. stand auger on blades and i can rock power head side to side little bit. i bought this used (first auger) so i dont know if that is normal or not??. not so bad at first but half way through it starts rocking side to side.

You will have some play, but I am not sure how much. I will be heading out to the garage here in a little bit and will check on how much wiggle mine has.
If it is a bit to much it is probably just a bearing or a bushing that needs to be replaced.

I went out and took a look at mine and there is little or no wobble. I would check to be sure if it is shaft or if it is the coupler to from the shaft to the auger itself. The auger you could carefully take a center punch an put a series of light punches in the output shaft to take up the slop. If you do it would be better to do many small ones the length of the coupler area and around rather than just a couple of larger ones.
