WFK, how thick is the ice and which lake were you on? I know people were still fishing out of boats on Alex last Wednesday. Thanks.

4-5 inches in the west bay of alexander. tapers off quick the closer u get to the point and the main lake, sice it just froze over last wednesday night. so i would say in the entire bay, 1-6 inches, depends on where your standing.

Did someone go through on Alex, I thought I overheard someone talking about that today.

Shamineau had on Saturday 3 inches in the west end, less in the main part of the lake. Makes great skating!

a vehicle backed down a little too far or tried to drive on the ice and put a huge hole in the ice right next to the access. auctally it happened twice. once when i was out there, then the next night i was at the bait shop and they said that somebody tried to drive out with a car at like 3 in the morning.

just my theory but the reason alex crappies are slow is because they are all in 20 feet and its not safe to try and fish it yet. i tried to get to it but i was stopped at 17 feet with two inches and i didnt wanna push any farther.

If anyone ventures out to any of these lakes please post an update as far as ice conditions.

Has anyone been on the ice out from the Cushing landing or near Flolids Point? It sure would be nice if we don't get an ice ridge between flolids and haystack island this year...

I would bet by this weekend a guy is going to have his options open with this cold weather. If the snow holds off for a while we could have some of the best ice we have seen for a long time!

Looking for a Cushing access report as well. You can pretty much count on either a ridge or large crack by Haystack, there always seems to be.

Yeah, i can only think of a few years that there has not been a ridge from flolids to haystack or from haystack to omega point. I have a cabin in the bay just west of Flolids and usually put a house out near Flolids during the first part of the season...

Main body of Alex was open with visable rippels on it all day... At least out from the Township access and Ogema. This intense sun we've finnaly been gettng has raised heck with the ice... It also looked like the wind had pushed some around. From the way it is forming up right now, I would bet on a nasty ridge or crack in this area. The North shore along Ogema has also been going from skim ice of an inch or so to open water and back almost daily.

Any updates on the west bay? Has it improved, stayed the same or deteriated from the weekend?
