Just got my 1st GPS in time for the hard water season! I got an H2O. What I'm wondering is, if I get the lake master chip, will this also add to the number of roads that show up? Right now, not may roads show up.

Also, can I hook it up to my computer and create routes?

I'm also looking to use it for navigation on the road.

Yes, the Lakemaster chip has all the roads mapped.

Correct, I use my H20c on a dash Ram mount in my pickup. Then pop it out of the truck mount and into the soft lined pocket of my Arctic Armor and to the spot we go!!! It works great. I have the color version, but have used the B/W and either or with the lakemaster chip are great.

They are right about the roads. You will love the chip. It takes the unit to a whole other level.

Double check Lowrance's website for updates for the h20. The lakemaster chip is great for lakes but doesn't have any road updates.

Lowrance does have a MapCreate program that is more accurate than what is pre-programed to the h20. It shows state land, hunting land, public access, topo info, and just about everything else. With it, you can create routes and maps, copy them to a SD card, and insert that card to the h20. My version is a few years old and came with 6 disks covering "2 million searchable Points-of-Interest". They seem more accurate than the basic h20 maps.

The h20 is a nice toy. Enjoy it!

I just used mine for the first time setting up deer stands in a new area. I was really impressed with the reception in the woods. I had both hands full of gear and shoved it in my back pocket as I walked around and it still had a lock every time I pulled it out to check. Should be really nice mounted on the ATV this winter.

The LakeMaster chip does have roads and lots of points of interest on it. It is much more detailed than the base map that comes in your H20.

You need MapCreate to create detail routes for traveling. With MapCreate you would load the info you wanted onto a separate blank chip, then use that chip in your H2O.

H2Os are great gps units for outdoor use like fishing and hunting, and with LakeMaster chips or MapCreate info they have really detailed maps with a lot of great info. But they are not an automotive gps in the sense of giving you turn by turn driving directions, etc.

Hope this helps.
