There are now two Northern Hawk Olw's now hanging around close to where I live....lucky me! A special place of great interest right now is none other than, "Oak Hammock Marsh", National Headquarters for Ducks Unlimted Canada. This massive exspanse of wetland and prarie grasslands is a MECCA for birds of every description. Currently, Oak Hammock is incredibly alive with thousands of Northern mallards. In turn, their presence has enticed no less than twenty bald eagles to the area. Apparently these eagles have adapted extremely well to hunting ducks! I sat there this morning and from a distance watched as baldy's of different year classes kept buzzing and harrasing the mallards, it quite the spectical!!! Then I watched as a mature Rough-legged hawk went after a youg eagle, that was amazing!!! Look just how large this young baldy in comparison to this wooden bench that could accommodate three grown men! Gotta Fly, I want to get back over there for the evening feeding spree!
