How do you know it was a male.......according to the DNR fisheries guys they stated this spring that when the walleye spawn is the only time to tell a male from a female with out cutting them open......just curious....thanks

thanks toomuchfun? it was a blast to land a fish like that all alone at the time and on 4 inches of clear ice......it came to the bottom of the ice about 5ft away from me when I first got a good look at it and I knew it was big (30")!! The blood in the pic is from grabbing it out of the hole I slid my hand into the gills but after a few pics (thanks to Bob who was outside working on his cabin) it swam away really strong!! caught in 27ft of water on a perch colored jigging rapala with a st croix legend ML,tica cetus ss500, spooled with 4lb P-Line floro ice.....great start to the season!!
