Any reports on ice conditions near the boat launch? I havent had a chance to drive by there yet and would love to get out and set up some tipups.

I checked it today on my lunch hour. There is
five inches there at the ramp. They have the
barricades up with the no ATV/Snowmobile sign.
People were walking all over in the usual areas
out there. I predict the "zoo" will be in there
this weekend!!!

I checked it out Saturday afternoon. There were 4 portables out there. Some guys on buckets too. There will be a ton of people there this weekend if the weather stays cooperative.

Head to the boat launch on the South side of the lake and it will become evident to you where you can and should go. As they stated above, it should be busy this weekend.

Dckasten, be careful to the right of the launch.

There's a distinct narrows that separates the lake's two basins. The deeper basin is to the right of the launch, on the south end, & is much deeper & often slower to ice over than the shallow basin where the launch is located.

Couple seasons ago we were fishing on six inches of ice in the northern basic while watching waves on the south end. Good stuff.

Just got back in. There is open water to the right of the launch and to the left around the point there is minimal ice and open water in some spots. With the snow on the lake now i couldnt tell where people had been fishing already. After drilling 20 holes from the point to the left of the launch to directly infront of the launch 9ft is the deepest i could find and the fish were scarce. Plenty of guys out fishing tipups right out infront of the launch. We set up out infront of the launch a few hundred feet out and only managed to catch one sunnie and a small perch. what do you catch out there and what are you guys using for bait?

Bring your ice picks.

I'm personally blaming you Marion icefishermen for scaring all my Geese down south!
