Was searching through the Lake Finder on the DNR site and Star caught my eye by having some nice fish in the surveys. I've fished it like once or twice about 10 years ago. How is ice up there? I was pretty young when I went there and dont really know nothing about it. Looking for a new lake to check out, any info on where to start for walleyes or panfish??

I haven't been on it yet this ice season, but it should be walkable now. A good spot to start with for walleyes is along the shoreline just N of the landing. Nice sharp break just off shore.

usmtsrocks do be careful because this is a lake that does have an airater in it. IT probably did not have it 10 years ago when you were last there.

Where is the aerator located out there?

If I remember correctly the aerator is out and to the right of the landing. But, I could be wrong.

Just thought I would let everybody know that the aerator will be put in on 1/03/09. Also it has been moved years back to the middle of the lake where it narrows.

There is a solid 12" of ice...took the F150 out from the NE bay and tried 10 fow for awhile with the kids. Bluegills, perch and the occasional bullhead on the camera, but not a lot of action.

Is this the same Star Lake the DNR uses as a rearing pond? To the East of Jennie? I fished that throughout the 70's with mixed results. It was like every other year, they'd raise Bluegills ('75) and '77 Walleyes, and '79 all that was there was stunted bluegills again. Maybe it's time to look again! Phred52

This lake is southwest of Litchfield. Got lot of nice crappies out of there back in the early 70' in the spring. Haven't fished it in years.
