Jan 10th - Lake Lizzie Roundup - MAP

Come join the fun again this year chasing crappies, sunfish, walleye, bass, and northern pike on Lake Lizzie, Saturday January 10, 2009. We will meet at the public access at 0900 am.

Lake Lizzie is located 17 miles south of Detroit Lakes, and 7 miles north of Pelican Rapids. The public access is located one mile east off of US Highway 59, along the west shoreline of the lake. From US Hwy 59, take 460th St east for 1 mile. When you come to the “T” at the end of the road, the public access is located 100 feet to the right of the junction, on 220th Ave. We will wait at the access until 0930 am, and then proceed on to the ice as a group. Latecomers are welcome to meet us out on the ice.

Lizzie Lake is a popular angling lake during both the open water and ice fishing seasons. The lake is best known for its excellent bluegill, black crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing. Data from recent lake surveys indicate these species are abundant and have good size distributions.


Feel free to bring whatever you'd like to eat and drink; food and beverage will not be provided. There will be snowmobiles, and likely ATVs, available to give people rides on and off the ice, if ice/snow conditions do not allow for driving.

This event is open to everyone; bring your wife, children, friends and anyone else you would like. This is a great opportunity to meet and fish with other Fishing Minnesota members and a chance to meet new people and share fishing tips and stories.

I would love to go, i usually have my house on Lizzie or at least at Lizzie. I would like to say i would have home ice advantace but i really suck at fishing....I have permanent house maybe whip up a batch or my award winning chili!!!

The date is on my calandar. Look forward to seeing everyone again.

If I wanted to bring my permanent out the night before to set up shop, is there a place other than the public access to get on the lake?

Go one mile farther north to 480th to Boes Beach follow the road around a small slough area past a green and white doublewide. This is Delmar Lammers property he allows access through his yard.There is a box for donations well worth it as this is a much better access than the public one

That is where I would go as well Fdog. Much better getting on and off there than at the public access.

Any idea where we are going to be heading out to fish. I know on the north end there's a good gill and crappie spot but the "Village" is usually out there with their perms so it'd be a bit hard to fish that spot. Also a good spot on the south end as well.

I'll mark it on my calendar and see if I can't make this one.

No set location on where we'll be fishing yet. We'll likely make the call on the morning of, when we all meet up at the public access. We'll take a group consensus and go from there.

I have been meaning to get out to one of these for the past couple of years. It's never worked out though. I think my schedule will allow it this year. Hopefully see you on Lizzie

I don't work weekends anymore.

I'll be out there again this year. This will be my first time on Lizzie. Should be a great time.

i'll try to make it out there usually nothing stops me from fishing. sounds like a fun time

Hopefully there won't be too much snow. Last time I was out there I popped a hole and watched the flood start. Once we got all settled we caught some dandies! Agreed, bring the kids, Lizzie offers up some great panfishing. Might even bring the turkey cooker and use it to do dogs in. Should be fun.
