Ok fellas, I currently have a Eskimo Quick Flip Deluxe, slighly modded for comfort and ease of use. I have been debateing buying a new portable and am trying to decide if buying a house with a floor is better than buying another flip over. I like my flip over some times but wish I had a floor other times. Anyone have any opinons on this matter?

I had an Eskimo Pro before I bought my Frabill Sled and I won't go back to a suitcase style house. The ease of pulling the sled with your stuff contained within it outweighs the floor IMO. Plus you don't have to drags extra chairs along.

Now I have an 2' wide piece of carpet that I put on the ice to act as my floor. It keeps some of the water away from my feet as I'm fishing.

I have both, my flip over is for when I am alone, but I prefer the suitcase for fishing more people. I have an 8x8 suitcase, and can fish 4 people no problem in it (8 holes). Not many options for a flip over for that many people. I think there are two draw backs to a suitcase....1 is the weight, and 2 is it is harder to move spots since you often need to fold it up just to move. I have a sled I transport mine on that is made from an old pair of skis. I made it big enough to put the house on without breaking it down, but it I am limited on how fast I can move with it.

I don't like flip overs. I like a solid floor to stand on, move around.. The flip overs I have been in just seem too crowded in there. I didn't like walking around and over the hole, fishing poles, heaters... to go outside. And they seemed colder to me. They still require work in dragging and setting up, just like a folding version. But that is just my opinion. I know lots of guys that have the flippies and love them.

I like flip overs just for the fact you can cover water faster flip it up and move It comes down to how hard you fish do you move alot or sit in one spot

I have never owned a flip over house, but looking to change that soon. I have had my Clam 5600 for about 5 years now. Like the room, but hate the hassle moving it during the day. I bought a medium (I believe) Otter sled and built a solid cover for it. I can put all my gear in the Otter and strap my house to it. Weighs to much at this point, so I usually only do it when pulling with my snowmobile or ATV. Go Flipper!! The guys I fish with are all using flippers and they are much nicer in my opinion.

I have a Canvas Craft Insulated flip over, two actually, and love them. they are warmer than most suitcase styles because of the insultaion and offer great light reflection with the white interior. as for my feet, if I am moving alot I dont worry about it but for fishing in one spot I have some resturant stress relief matts that I put down to keep my feet warm. I have also heard of carpet samples and vehicle floormatts for the same purpose. I also have the skirt that surrounds the sled and stops all wind from coming in. IMO mobility and comfort are key in effective icefishing and this style house offers the best combination of the two.

Fished out of suitcase style for years. Bought a flip over two years ago and love it.

Hmmm. Guess I should stay with my flip over. I will tell you guys about one mod I made to my flip over that some of you may like. I built a floor out of 1/2" plywood. Setup fishouse in the shop, took a 5 gallon pail and marked some holes that made sense to me when there are 2 people inside and cut holes in it. IT is lightwieght and I can fit it under the house in the pickup. I don't really use it untill it gets really cold out and need some insulation from the ice and can drive out anyway. early in the year, I don't use the heater much so not to worried about it staying warm.

just build a floor that you bring with like i did for mine had some leftover fencing and cut it to sise to fit in the sled works great keeps your knees dry when pulling the big one out of the water.
