not sure guys, but I have seen people out on Mitchell, but not Big lake yet. I would guess it is 5 or so inches.

Anyone know the best access for Mitchell? I think there is a park you can get access on the west site of the lake, but have not tried it.

Walked out about 75 feet off the NE shore of Mitchell on Monday. Solid 4". Should have made an inch since then. BUT, the lake did not freeze over in the middle right away. I think it was 2 days later, so there might be an inch or so less out by the center 30' hole.

Big had open water just a few days ago. The waterfowl were just piled in there.

Be careful out there - there is a dude who lives in BL - pulls his spearing shack out early every year - don't use that as a signal, because I think he's crazy. LOL

Big lake has a large open area on the east side.

I saw a truck pulled out on the ice at the launch at about noon today crazy

I think that guy has hos spear house out. It looked like their was a small spear house on the north west end of the lake.

I think I seen the same person at noon, looked like he put a tip up out, and sat in his truck to wait for the tip up to go up.

there was a wheeler out on big today at his spear house. that looked soo strange with that large area of open water. there must be some springs in that area to keep it open.

We fished Mitchell on Saturday. There was a solid 6+ inches everywhere we checked. Only a few small pike for our effort though.

Any reports? I was out on Friday morning and ran out of suckers catching 2-3 lb pike with one in the 6-7 lb range. There was about 14 inches of good ice, and full size trucks driving all over the place (on Mitchel). Anyone have any luck catching panfish?

Went out Sat morning on Mitchell. Small crappies and sunnies, too small to keep. A few 20-22" northerns, great fun for the kids anyway. The lake is loaded with them hammerhandles. Was out the weekend before and managed to keep a few decent crappies for supper. I don't have 14" of ice under my house though. More like around 11".
