Hello everyone im new here on fm. Anybody been doing any good on theese lakes this year yet. For me the walleye and crappie bite has'nt been what it should be.I was on julia this evening and found the crappies out there to be plentyfull but painfully small ( around 6-8 inchers). I fished elk thu and fri last week and mon and tue this week. monday was the best of the four days kept three walleyes for dinner and released a couple more. The other three days out there only produced a couple a day. p.s. was on horseshoe on wed and had three and a half inches in most of the bays. the bite out there is going well for crappies with a few walleyes too.

Was out on elk last two evenings. Friday caught a 17" and two 15" eyes. tonight only a rock bass. It was unusually busy out there this weekend. Reason for saturdays bad luck is we decided to venture away from the masses and it didn't pay off. Next weekend there will be safer ice on the big north lakes, can't wait for gull, pelican, and milacs.

lived on gull for years, and fished the surrounding lakes. If you need some info post one for "DADDYDUCKER HELP ME!" lol seriously though, I might be able to help, and more than happy to. GL

daddyducker, I'll take any advise you want to supply. I've fished gull quite a bit on ice the last 15 yrs.. Deep in the day and shallow at night, sometimes real shallow 4'-6'. I wish I could figure out a pattern on the 28" plus girls. Got any suggestions for BIG PIGS? Next weekend I will be walking out somewhere on gull.

what part of the lake I have many tips...caught fish from 16"-30" in the winter...don't ask me for open water advice, but hardwater, I got you covered! south end...mid-lake, north...???
P.s. GL during the day, never had a bite, but morning and night, mainly night... yatchtzy!! hardwater I would stay mid-lake.

There is a spot the geese have been tryin to keep open off to the right of the canoe access about 200 yds out. The hole has been getting smaller each day but the ice around it cant be as thick as the rest of the lake. A little caution should be used when venturing out here yet.

Granted elk is only nine and a half at its deepest some good walleye fishing can be had if you know where to look. There is some fine structure in the lake the map does not show. There are a few rock humps that can be very productive at times. The bar that comes out from the acess is a good spot it tops out at about 3-4 feet and drops down into about eight feet out at the end and sides of it . This spot gets hit real hard at first ice. The inlets from lilly creek and the elk river are also good bets. There are roughly a dozen spots that can be productive at one time or another.
