It must be going pretty well, we are selling quite a few sucker minnows and chubs. Ice conditions sound pretty good, but as always be careful.

Got out to Fectos Point today. Good solid 6" and a few walleyes. Mostly smaller size but a fish is a fish.

We went out of McKinley today in 23 FOW and we caught 5 kept 4. 1 on a tip up and three off either dead stick or bobber. Any jigging and they would look and leave. 2 bit so soft if I didn't see them on the flasher and check for weight on the rod, I would never have got them. All the fish came about 11:00 to 12:30 Not very aggressive.

Be careful of the pressure ridges that are forming out there. Starting to see them in places that we don't normally see them cause we get snow on the ice right away. Could end up being a really good year for ice if we can keep any major snow off it for a couple of weeks.

Shamrock7,
Don't know about going the next two weeks with out a major storm system for the Arrowhead, but the next 7 days or so look pretty good for only small accumulations, some good ice making temps for the most part over the next week or so,some zero and even sub zero temps on the way...Weather pattern still in a very slow change mode, that will take perhaps another two weeks to get to where its going, then all bets are off on keeping major snow storms and even blizzards away!

Lets get some good ice first say 16 inches or so...then let it snow!!! Yes I agree, build good ice first and then bring on some good snow amounts, and so far that seems to be the way its going, our overall winter outlook is working out very good so far for this area, guess the key words are "so Far"

Found this interesting link on the Lake of the Woods forum. http://www.fishingvermont.net/images/Ice/Ice_th1.jpgDeals with how much ice is made over 24 hours at a given starting thickness and ambient temp.
