Has anyone here made an E-caller? I've seen some neat plans with Radio Shack parts that (if effective) would be much cheaper than a production model. I've also seen the Cass Creek Bighorn speaker that you just plug an mp3 player into. Has anyone tried one of these?

I did a few years ago, made a speaker housing unit for it, bought a small mp3 on an online auction site, did the radio shack amplifier bit too. bought a wireless unit for it, spent about 200 bucks from beginning to end. Used it for two years, wishing I had saved the money and bought a commercial one. I ended up buying one 2 years ago, there are a lot of used units out there and a lot of newer units out there as well that don't cost an arm and a leg. check the online auction sites and the major call makers sites, they usually have refurbished or for sale units on there. Foxpro for sure has refurbished and traded in units for sale.
