could see lots of open water in the south end from 169. Not sure if anyone's venturing out there yet.

Go to Hardy's bait buy minnows leave like a 10 at least in the jar next to the till and askhim topoint you in the right direction. There are a few eyes in there but more of an accidental catch.

I'll second Harty's. Joe is in tune with the lake, ice conditions and fishing reports more than anyone out there. Even plows roads when it becomes drivable.

There is a fair number of walleye in Medicine but they're hard to get on. There's also some very nice crappies, but those are hard to get on too. Good lake to do some tip up'ing. I got a 10lb pike on a tip up there last year.

I slammed the walleyes last year!!!! The only problem is that they were all 5 inchers! Caught a couple of good Northerns though. I have yet to get onto any crappies with any size yet. But Hardy's has some on his wall that keep me coming back! Any ice yet?????

eyemaster, if you're looking for Pannies and Pike I'd try the weedline on the south end of the lake. I've picked up some nice Sunnies in that area but you'll have to move around. The Pike bite is typically very good as well. If you're looking to throw out a tip-up, use Shiners. The Pike out there prefer Shiners over Suckers.

Sybar...Medicineman post two above yours tells you that the southside weedline is good...and I agree! Go to the DNR website and print out a map of the lake. Then just go out there and find a good weedline and set up with some shiners on tip-ups, or jig a Chubby Darter. You don't have to worry about finding them, they will find you on that lake! I launch from that beach off of the frontage road next to 169 all the time.
