Well, too bad there aren't more like me. Maybe if there were we wouldn't be in the situation we're currently in.......spending like drunken sailors and then trying to tax our way back out of the hole. I agree we need more people with your attidude towards Goverment. I guess I'm not to worried at this point about one so called anti-fish/hunt person on the council.

As usual I couldn't agree with you more Limit. This tax and spend government has got to stop. I can't believe we keep voting in more taxes in a bad economy.

But then, let's borrow more money to get out of the worst economical calamity since the great depression that was caused by borrowing too much in the first place. Makes good sense to me. Bob

Considering what public funding for the arts already goes toward. $53,000 in this case. This is a photo of art work found at the Franconia Sculpture Park. Apparently, the locals call it “The Big P o o.” Hold your nose, things are shaping up nicely indeed !!

Whiners unite behind LMTOUT's 'watchdog' charade. For crying out loud, let it move forward before passing judgment. If, and when, something does happen, please, please let us know how you feel.
Until that time, keep your whining to yourself. Let us know when you really have something to whine about.
Uncle Bill, you need to get out more. There are many, many examples of enjoyable art culture out there - if you want to pick and choose, please show both sides.

Many years back, I held my nose and voted for the Lottery, based solely on the assurances that the money would be dedicated to our natural resources.
No one was watching, and the politicians moved with lightning speed to glom onto the money.
Now some of you are criticizing LMTOUT for demanding that we keep a close and wary eye on this latest little pot of gold?!
Good lord, go back and educate yourselves - those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
BTW - demanding that someone you disagree with "shut up" hardly advances the conversation. If you can't play nice, the powers that be are liable to begin applying padlocks and even cutting folks off.

Jackpine Rob, check the nature of LMTOUT's many, many posts. Sometimes a good 'Shut UP' is just the ticket. I mean it works on my dog once in a while when she whines.
Wouldn't mind a padlock on this thread AT ALL!!

Keep on Keepin' on Lmit. The problem with waiting until the deed is done is, well, the deed is done.
This bill was a cluster F from the get go. Much to like, much to dislike and all wrapped up in more government beauracracy. The citizen involvement piece was well-conceived, but from what I have seen, again poorly executed. It's always the same old friends, lobbyists, or those owed a favor.
If anything worthwhile is to come out of this glorified boondoggle, we all better have a more interested attitude than let's wait and see.
Rob, I voted against the lottery then as it's a regressive tax and the government always hoses things up. It's a fact of life. And here's another one: If you give a drunk something to waste money on, he will.
Heartman, you have control issues.

It would be nice for a change to see a padlock on users accounts instead of good topics turned bad by some of the usual suspects.

OK Tom, I get the regressive tax part, but I was able to rationalize the thing in my warped mind - the "tax" is entirely voluntary. If you don't buy a lottery ticket, you don't pay the tax.
This newest shiny tax isn't quite as voluntary, eh?
As for the council - if anyone honestly believed it wasn't going to be dominated by politicians and their cronies - they haven't been paying attention. Certainly, we will be offered up an "average citizen" or two, but even those probably have strings being pulled.
Its the nature of the beast.

so we have 1 bad member of the council, the other members look pretty good to me. some guys who are definitely ordinary Joe's. Why assume they are all policto's? Exactly who would you want on the panel? Seems to me, everyone is just assuming the council is made up of politicians when in fact, it looks like most of them are not.
I for one do not want some schmuck on this council who's only claim to fame is that he hunts deer, ice fishes and drinks lots of beer with his buddies. that is not the kind of guy you want spending $90 mil a year. Dont you want some type of qualifications?
