The Sturgeon Excursion on the Rainy River. Can't wait!
Dtro and Hanson, you'll have to take me shopping some time in March. Will do!! The Sturgeon Excursion on the Rainy is definitely the highlight of my spring. I "hope" to make it up there a bit earlier this year for the Walleye run as well.

Just think what my dad will be like on that trip... I know... he won't be the only one. I can still hear "Get on that ditch pickle and let that 600 bark" echoing across the ice of URL. Good stuff! "I'm gonna get my drink on!"

I've only been to Vermilion twice but both times we caught tons of fish, all different species. I keep telling myself to get back up there. If you have a gps chip and a boat that will cover some water you can find and fish just about any species and any kind of structure you want up there.

JigginJim, I highly recommend it. If you can get up there on a good weekend that place is heaven. This fall was really strange up there with not nearly as much action compared to years past. Probably due to the weather being so goofy this season.
I just booked my trip to LOW in Nestor Falls for a spring excursion...YES!

Key West Sharks (Does March count as spring?) Lake Michigan warm water discharge brown trout (March) Lake of the ozarks paddle fish and blue/flat/channel cats (April) Lake Michigan cohos near Kenosha (April) Upper Red Lake the week of opener (May) Off the dock on lake vermillion - nothing beats dock walleyes!
I'd love to try the sturgeon excursion, but I think the wife would kill me, or worse...Sell the boat!

Florida in March - To visit my fishing buddy who is a snowbird. Bass in Central Fl & Sharks off the Keys / My buddy tells me that if the sharks are hitting it is the most awesome fishing experience out there.
Early May trip to Devils Lake (New lake for me)
MN opener on Kabetogama
Canadian Rainy for long Memorial Weekend
English River first week in early June
Alaska in August
I might even find some time to fish locally this spring.

this summer was my first time fishing out of the metro area. Millacs, Osakis, and alexandria were some spots I hit. I would like to try more trips like that.

Alright. My Spring destinations have been decided.
Rainy River late April. Upper Red Lake for eye opener. L.O.W. Nestor Falls, ON. late June ski' opener. Minnesota River weekly as well.
Let's hope these gas prices stay at a more tolerable level for the spring. Last spring/summer really broke the bank for me in the petrol fund. Bring on the ice! Spring couldn't come any sooner!
