Does the lake,(Cass), have any open water at this point?

The whole North end was still steaming and open as of yesterday morning.. When I say North end I mean from out in front of Buck Lake to the Knutson Dam area and towards the Opening to Pug hole... Now there may be ice today on it but I know for a fact it can't be any thicker than a half inch.. Like I mentioned yesterday there was a boat out there fishing on Sunday... There was also open water on the North end of star between the Narrows and O'neils point.. Closer to Star then it was to Horseshoe Resort...

I talked to Karen at Froggy's this afternoon, and she said Pike Bay has 6"-7" from reports she's heard; Cass Lake of course is much less uniform.

I'll be out on Pike Bay this weekend (unless I play hooky from work sooner!).

Go for it.. I will be out a few days hitting the ice for sure and I know next weekend I will be guiding 2 different groups.. I'm just happy all this major snow stayed to our south today...

Ya, i live near rochester and we got about 3 inch's at home last night. 4-5 in other areas around here. i just hope you got enought to use my snowmobile to go about a mile or so from pug hole out on kitchi to spear next week. is there anything on the ground or on the roads in the woods that i could skate by on to get that far? otherwise i guess whats there will have to do!!

There's virtually no snow up here at this point...it would be iffy on a sled, IMO.

Hey keep me posted on the snow situation around Cass over the weekend, sounds like theres 2-3 inches coming your way. im head up to cass on tuesday. hopefully you get a couple inches just for cover, makes spearing easier! Thanks

Will do, Cass. We had some flurries late yesterday/overnight, but not even enough to cover the ground. Forecast says 50% chance for flurries again today, with a little more snow likely tomorrow.

I'm going to go check out Pike Bay this afternoon, and I'll have an ice update then.

You cant spear Cass!

If i remember right didnt they change the regs for cass last year?? I think you are now able to spear out there since the experimental time was up and They noticed no difference with the skis in the lake and no spearing allowed.
