One more time are there any lakes where muskies are stocked that can be speared??
Not concerning the future. If the DNR is commited to this there should be some lakes open to spearing.Which ones?

Sparce, 50inch named Lake Miltona as one lake that has muskies in which you can also spear pike on. There are plenty of other lakes that allow spearing with the existence of Muskies. Winnie comes to mind, as well as Lake of the Woods, and Pokegama.

50" is correct. The DNR is not seeking additional restrictions to dark house spearing in conjunction with muskie stocking. That is a fabrication that a few in the Dark House Federation are spreading around to fight muskie stocking in additional waters. If you don't believe me feel free to call Ron Payer and ask him yourself. I believe that it's also documented in the new Ecocide Long Range Plan as well.

Spacebar, it's in here. I just don't have the time to dig it out at the moment.

Thanks Shawn, I read that earlier, while searching for spearing regs.Even though I dont spear I do remember years back reading how the muskie fishers were trying and successful at eliminating spearing on any stocked waters and all waters containing muskies.
At that time I thought it was selfish, pushin for stocking and getting it, only to push further! and restricting spearers from more tradition in MN than the muskie was.
I guess most you guys know muskies are native to river systems not lakes, not untill stocking legal or illegal was introduced.

Then I stand corrected, I had been told it was illegal to spear muskies. And since most people people could not identify which was a muskies or a pike. The lakes with muskies would be closed to spearing.

It still is illegal to spear muskies. It should not be that difficult to distinguish between pike and muskies. I guess I am speaking for myeslf on that, but any one that has a lot of experience with spearing should know as well.

After years of seeing the sport of spearing restricted by slot limits and bans. Am I supposed to believe that things have changed because of something stated in a plan. Sorry, I am not buying it.

I think there are only about 27 lakes in Minnesota that are protected for spearing and think that its mostly because of Northern studys
the plan reads that no spearing bans would be asked for for lakes stocked with Musky
We are a river chain as that is how the musky got into Nest, Green ,Calhoun etc
Cant wait till spring to kayak from Calhoun to Mannanah and see if we can spot as many large Nortern as usual and maybe some Musky.
Been reading some of the dozens of studys on Musky and it looks like they could be the Vacum cleaner we need to help get the Walleye population back up by eliminating their main preditors.
