Saw a guy ice fishing off Bayport Beach this morning. Be carefull everyone. Am getting the itch, maybe later this week.

You dont say, MMMMM.and on the 29th.Yea I walked out with him this morning,He is a friend of mine and a bit of a crazy one at that.He uses alot of caution getting out there, icepicks,lifejacket and a chisel.I followed him out a ways to check things out.Its solid ice but not much of it 2inches for the most part. Kinda scary!!!!! He has always been out there as early as anyone.

How did he do out there? I did good lasr year early ice. Mostly sauger (decent size) and a few short walleye.

Not sure how he did,He said he was gonna be out today to but I didnt get a chance to get down there to talk to him.He is usually targeting crappie down there .Fishwater and myself were gonna go down there today,but he had a sick child to tend to and couldnt go.I was a little leary anyway with the new snow and little ice,Hopefully next weekend Ill have a crack at It.The conditions will get better everyday to make things safer out there.

man i cant wait to get out there this year, i didnt make it last year, unfortunately, hopefully there's a good slab bite this year

me too, fishwater (sean), got me on the Croix ice last winter and glad he did, I can't wait to get out there again

hey guys, it's been awhile, but I am getting the itch to ice fish when I get back to normal civilization and can pick up my stuff... when do you guys expect decent ice in Bayport??? i would prefer enough to at least get a fourwheeler on... still a bit skeptical of the river... only my second year ice fishing it. when do you guys expect decent ice in Bayport??? i would prefer enough to at least get a fourwheeler on... still a bit skeptical of the river... I'm planning on hitting it this weekend on foot. I'd imagine by the 12th you could make it out some places on a wheeler. I'm sure some ice reports will be coming in by this weekend to give you a better idea.

I'll keep my eyes open, i was on here a bit last year, i go to school in River Falls and fished the river a bit last winter... had a good time... I am working on a cabin addition right now up by Ely, and we are making good ice here... 17 below this morning... but unfortunately my stuff is back home yet... good luck out there!
