First off, I'm not much of a deer hunter anymore, used to bow hunt but seem to have more time for fall fishing.

I recently had a breakin at a job site trailer. I've bought a trail cam with IR etc. What I need from you is ideas to disguise and protect from theft, the camera. Like a steel box with enough opening to get the pics and long bolts threw a tree nutted inside the box. I dont care if they can jamb a stick in and break it to bits as long as they cant get the SD card.

anyone ever made a contraption like this or have any ideas on this? Pics? Im all ears! I also could use ideas on distances, wind and tree branches,(un needed shots) battery life etc. I've never owned one of these. tips please!

Thanks All !!

Google trail and scouting cameras and you'll find a couple of really good websites that have a ton of info. I've posted the links before but got booted because the sites sell stuff and aren't sponsors.

Another thing that I heard was a good idea is...if they do see that trail camera...Be sure to label the outside steal box or whatever protection box your looking to put it in, Clearly label the box as Camera #2 or Camera #3. Even though you may only have 1 camera. This will get them thinking, that they are being watched by more than 1 camera. And are caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They will most likely leave things alone.

The person that I heard do this...Put his camera in the wide open space to ensure the trespasser seen his camera... then labeled it. It fixed his problems.

Most make protective steel boxes that they go into. "bear-proof", can't tell you how well they work but it's an idea.
