Received an email with a picture of a nice eye from Maple. 5” of ice on Maple and haven’t heard about Union. I’m sure the East side of Union should have ice but west Union is questionable.

What..... that little waldo, nothing to get too excited about there West Union is still open, bays on the west side are froze but I don't know how well. I hear some guys were out on the east end this past weekend, seems like the smaller ponds around have a good 4 inches or more by now. The Public Access is just how you like it Fish, about 100 yards of ice to crunch thru then it is open water the rest of the way, you can just about hear those big eyes out there fattenin' up! We've got really nice ice coming this year but still, be cautious! Mike

You missed it Fish, looks like most of the west lake is froze over now except for a few patchs, can't be too much out there though, if it stays calm it will be smooth ice but if we get a good wind it's going to be a mess.

I’ll bet that with this weather there will be big areas that open up again.

I was at Maple saturday night. There were quite a few portables out there. I ended up catching 6 crappies. I want to say I measured 7 to 8 inches of ice but my methods weren't too exact so don't take my word for it.
Just realized that the holes I measured didn't have the shavings cleaned away so it could be closer to 6.

Where on the lake were you fishing? I'm thinking of heading down that way sometime soon and would like a general area to look at starting my search.

I was out on Maple Saturday and Sunday evenings between 3-6. Both times I came home with 4 crappies ranging in length from 8-10 inches. It actually seemed like the bite tailed off later and was better when the sun was up or right at dusk.
Anything going on at any other lakes in the area?
Henry
