Are we getting closer to the ice starting to form on the lakes?

[PoorWordUsage]'s Bay last week was half the way iced up.. I think this weekend it was fully opened again... The harbor at Horseshoe Resort has had a film on it once already, but that since has opened up too.. Most of the real shallow smaller farm ponds and puddles have ice on them already.. Tonight it is suppose to be 10 degrees so that should start helping us out...

I actually think I may be ice fishing my late next week.. It will depend on the wind and snow... We are getting temps later this week that are suppose to dip into the single digits, so that will help, but if the wind picks up and breaks this ice up it will make it real rough and take a little longer for us to be out there.

Thursday night the low is suppose to be 6 above.

Any word on what Pike Bay is like? I had the best hardwater walleye fishing of my life there last year, and I'm anxious to get back out!

Anyone been on either of these lakes over the past holiday weekend? Cass Lake?(north side) or west bay by river inlet on Kitchi Lake? Im heading up in a few days just wondering about the ice thickness and if anyones been out with any luck? also is there much snow on the ground and on the ice??? if someone could give me insight on the snow depth that would be great!!

On Sunday morning there was open water on the north end of Cass by the outlet/inlet to Kitchi.. There was even a boat out there on yesterday.. It did freeze last night but there was still vapor on that end of the lake so it is still open in pockets... As for snow, there is none... Pike Bay has fisherman on it, but there is spots were the ice is only an inch and a half...
