Looks like Pike Bay and Everetts Bay are also both frozen over this morning!

Let's keep that wind down the next few days! I had 2-4 inches of clear ice on a small (350 acre) lake near Ely when I was out this afternoon with the spud bar. Lines in the water later this week! grin grin

Mr. Minn, the Eagle Eye Cam is on Hibbing Point on the West End.

If you leave the Landing by boat, it's about halfway down Hibbing Point on your right. This fall they had decoys in the water and last winter there was a deer feeder (if you ever want to try to find it).

The camera is pointed kind of north/north-east into Head-o-lakes.

Blackduck bay froze solid overnight, even in the strong wind. Not sure yet about Frazer...will have to go for a drive in the truck in a little bit...

According to every webcam this morning, Vermilion appears to be frozen over: Big Bay, Head o Lakes, Pike Bay...

Huzzah!

Skunked,

Even more good news, our ideas for much of the month of December to be colder then normal look even better as of now,all the data we look at here is showing record breaking or near record breaking cold as we head into Dec starting in the Dec 4th-8th time frame, some of my fellow met's have even been talking historic cold for parts of the month of Dec,I wont go that far just yet. Also most of the snow might very well be off to the South and east for much of Dec,however much of northetn Mn could get hit with a strong clipper system to start off the intense cold spell...So very good ice making weather as we get into next month, there will however be a milder spell for a few days as we get into later next week.

Frank, please see what you can do to make 14-18" of ice for the entire state of MN then put a nice covering of snow on top for the sleds.

Thanks grin

dtro,

Ok i will order that right up for ya,LOL...believe me as much time as I spend up that way in the winter,I would love to have great ice first and then blizzards to follow!...And I do spend time in the Sw metro area most winters, love the berbs of Bloomington and Richfield.I also have a good friend from Edina,Mn who lives down here now.BTW anybody have any info on how the ice fishing is on centerville lake ?,I might try and hit that lake on the way up to Vermilion in early Jan.

Low of -7 tonight forecast for Ely, with calm winds. Gotta be pretty much the same in Tower. Making ice! grin

Any current ice reports from Vermilion's west end?
