I went out of the bluffs alone about 12:00, firt spot nada, worked another area with 3-ways and jigs, pretty slow, picked up a buddy at 2:30. I ended up boxing two decent saugs around 18". Other than that nothing...slower than I expected. Didn't have much time to poke around different areas though. I would like to hit it mid week if time allows.

My last hurrah for my boat this season came today.Hit the river around 8:30 this morning,my first spot was the only place I needed to go.With the temps in Bayport at 41.8 I knew dragging a jig and minnow combo would be the ticket. The fish were very cooperative, with most of the days catch coming in the first 2 hours.Popped around 15 eyes and only one sauger with a handful of pig sized silvers to top it off.Todays fish came off an inside turn along a sand break.Best depth was 22 to 24 fow,I did pop a couple more in 27/28 fow just after the sun broke out around noon but I had to leave.I hate having to put the boat away so soon,But then again with the Temps like they are It wont be long til my other boat starts sliding across the Croixs frozen surface ...Good Luck Out There...

My brother and I started at 8:00am picked up 2 saugers at 20-25 ft. at our first spot. Went to Kinni, nothing. Went back to our first spot and picked up 5 more saugers at 20 ft. We left at 12:30. Saw my friend as we were leaving and he had caught 3 saugers around noon at 30-35ft. Hope to get out next Sunday.

Went out with Andy (TooMuchFun?)around noon and fished around Prescott till 3:30. We picked up 1 walleye, 4 saugers, and a small mouth. All of the Saugers came near the Prescott in 20 - 24 FOW and the Walleye we caught along the Wisconsin side up from Prescott in 24 FOW. All of the fish were in the 16-18" range except one of the saugers that was about 13". I think this was probably my laast trip out in the boat this fall. Time to start getting the ice fishing equipment ready. Bring on the ice.

Big Jeff...nice to see you last weekend. I was in the front of the Crestliner you said Hi to last Sunday in the cold.
I think I'm going to hit it again this coming Sunday. A balmy 39 degrees sounds downright agreeable to me. I'll give you a wave if I see you.
My crew boated about 10 sauger and 1 smallie total. We only kept 3 sauger out of the 10.There was one older gent in a 14ft Duck boat who was knocking the snot out of the sauger. He had the magic stick but it was slow for us. Good luck if you head out.

I'm planning on Sunday for a bit as well. Probably going to kick it around Bayport/Hudson area - swore off going south of Afton again until next year.

Sean!!!!! You better check the launch out first,Itll be locked up in ice Sunday. There is ice down to the highline point as far as I could see this morning, but I didnt check the Bayport park yet.As for further south,You guys should be fine.If your planning on launching out of the bluffs though,Id check on it,that bay freezes pretty early,Prescott or Hastings would be your best bet.

Not only do you have to worry about the Bluffs freezing up, but that is a pretty steep hill to get her backed into. Would hate to hear of someone having their truck slide in there.

I was just down to Lakeside Park in Bayport and the river is still wide open from Bayport to Hudson. Andersen Bay had some ice but not that much. We still have a ways to go before we have fishable ice at Bayport. The King Plant is making smoke so there should be a good warm water plume coming out of the plant.

Prescott Launch should stay open for a while, lots more current pulling through there, nice easy approach too. I would reckon the bluffs will be locked up by then... I winterized the boat yesterday, I am done. Good luck to all that venture out yet, it was another wonderul open water season on the river and I can't wait till April!

I plan to launch off the Bluffs on Sunday. If someone is going out on Saturday, please post what the conditions are. Thanks,
