Fish lake could be iffy so be careful. I would look into going to a smaller lake with these temps those should be close to good by the weekend

Fish just froze over last monday. Its a big lake, and i assume there is a little current. I wouldn't risk it yet...

i checked it tuesday afternoon and there was only a skim of ice on it-i hope it stayed with all the wind we've had... i wouldn't try it... when i checked rice yesterday afternoon, it had a solid three inches near the access so i'm guessing it might be ready by the wkend!

Be careful on Rice Lake too. Thats area of the boat landing has a lot of current at times and people have died falling through the ice there. Travel with at least 1 partner and have rope and a throwable in each.

I also heard Rice has 3 plus inches. I am not a big rice lake fan. I never seem to get any big walleyes. I only know of the deep hole on rice, do you know of any other good spots. I would greatly appreciate any advise. Or any other good lakes with ice. I am always okay with 2+ inches if it is clear and new ice.

Thanks Fishn UMD

Waaseye,

I looked up your name and it means hawgeye in chinese. you must have gotten your name from a cracker jack box in lil china town. joking aside thats a real hawgeye/waaseye in your avatar, must have been one hall of a local duluth area walleye guru to put you on that slob.

The lake I live on had 2 inches on it last night, not good ice though, went through with one shot of the spud.

Dave

Thank you for your comments on that nice post spawn Walleye hawgeye. I was actully bobber fishing when I got that fish. I was all by myself without a net. I had to hand ring that one. I wonder whom took that picture??

Thanks for the info on the ice condition. It looks like ice condidtions are not in my favor. Hopefully in a few weeks. I need to get some early ice Walleyes soon.

Sounds like about 3" in the narrows in front of Hi Banks Resort but watch out by the d a m because its 1 poke and through with a spud there!

I checked the ice today after work. I forgot my spud bar so I tossed a 15# rock as high as I could by the d a m landing and it didnt break through out as far as 20' out. It was bouncing the ice good though. I will bring my spud to work tomorrow and check the narrows by Hi Banks better. From the looks of where others have checked Im guessing around 2-3".
Cheffrey and I will be out in the narrows Sunday about 11am.

Well I just might get out tomorrow and see how it goes. I have all my stuff ready but I must get the sled back home and running so I just might get that done in the am. I just have to get too 5 to 6 inches and I will pull the house out with the wheeler. I will be out Sunday as well. I hope every one is safe on the first outing and make sure the ICE is safe be-for going to far out and good luck.
