Heading down at the crack of dawn to fish below the dam. Does anyone know if fires are allowed on the Wisc. side if you pulled up to shore? After a few hours in the boat, a little warmth would feel awful nice.

just curious.

Should've asked Dean at everetts but neglected to. Brought a heater in the boat, so that worked out well enough. We didn't do so well Saturday (limited out 2 weeks ago). Made the mistake of sticking with what and where worked the last time up by the dam.

Looked like below the Y was the ticket on Saturday.

Sure was for us. I typically give an area three passes. If I don't get a fish or two AND no other boats seem to be catching them either time to move. Might be to the other side of the channel might be a whole another area depending on the current seams and structure. Don't be afraid to try different areas.

A lot of very good anglers on 4 this time of year so someone will have figured the bite out if the fish are there. Once a boat starts catching fish the crowd starts to gather. Somedays you can track fish movements by the cluster of boats. Just part of fishing the river.

We were down there sunday and noticed the current was way less the water level was down from last week. Sure makes a big difference on where the fish are. Paying attention to little things like that can help you decide where the fish might be at.
