I heard the north end of lqp was froze over with 1 to 1.5 in. This was on Wednesday. Saw some crazy guys walking on it right down from hanthos landing.

was planning a couple days ago to try fish okebena this weekend until my dreams were shattered and half the lake busted open from the wind. Looked like it was freezing over pretty good now its gonna be another solid week before it has a chance to get a good start again i bet. Oh well another weekend shooting pool if nothing else.

St. James was all froze up but the wind broke it up pretty good. Still some ice along the shore line. I'm still hoping the wind goes down and that the ice will be good by this weekend or early next week. Me and a friend are planing on going and checking the ice on some smaller lakes in the area tommorrow after school. Will post what we find.

You can never be too safe. Don't let the skim over be too deceiving.

SUPPOSEDLY there is 4-4.5 on marsh lake. 3rd hand account so take it for what it is worth.

Are you talking Fish Lake by Windom? I would say Cottonwood Lake on the south side has 2-3 inches, but don't quote me.

On Saturday Perchpounder and myself did a little exploration of Nobles County to check ice conditions. After a few search spots, we found these results.

Lake Bella Pond - 1 1/2 inches, not enough for our liking

Lake Okabena - 1 1/2 inches on most of lake with the exception of directly in front of the old power plant. NOTE, there was a 15 yard shoreline stretch that was only 1 1/2 inches, and once you got past that, we walked out about 75 yards and found close to 3 inches of ice. We did not fish.

Today we did the Boji exploration with Mr M joining us and found generally 1 1/2 inches and then a little less on Anglers Bay back in the slough area.

At Templors Bay, we fished for about 2 hours and caught a bunch of ity bity's gills, perch, crappie and bass. Add em all up and we maybe had a dozen keeper fish. Pretty small.

We ventured to Okoboji then and saw that East was locked up but we never stopped to check thickness.

West Okoboji was wide open, with the canals starting to lock up, it could be a week or so before I would call them safe, if we can get some cold.

After Boji, we stopped to fish on Boot Lake East of Lakefield and found about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Fished for a half hour or so and watched Mr. M put on a tiny perch clinic.

Then I went and fished "The Narrows" of East Graham and found generally about 3 inches of ice. Managed to catch a few small cigar eyes as were other there, not much for size, but it was some action.

ALWAY remember to be safe. We have the best yet to come. Don't ruin it for yourself or your family with a tradgedy. Be safe, check the conditions first before you drag the weight of all your gear out. And as we found a few times today, when you are out with friends, don't all stand or walk together, spread out and always be light on your toes. We all have the itch, lets not let that itch lead to a severe chill!

I will keep you updated, and please do the same. Remember also, lets not exagerate. And never take these reports as gospel. My idea of safe ice may not be yours. And ice varies from foot to foot. It can be safe in one spot and 5 feet away, bad ice. Be safe crew!

Nice report muc!

I really need to get out somewhere next weekend, but ice conditions aren't too favorable in my area.
