It sounds like a lot of people say the fish stop biting at night. What time do they start in the morning? We want to get the most out of our days on our trip up there the last week in December.

Anytime I am up at LOTW I am on the ice an hour before sunrise, just to get everything setup and ready. I would say you can get fish a good half hour before sunrise somedays. All depends on their mood.

If I have my own house, and its first ice ya early. But if Im in a rental and its late Dec. or Jan. and Im in about 18 to 25 ft. I dont even go out until about 7:30. The fish in deeper water start about 8 or so. Also with the ice cracking and shifting all the time its nice to see where your driving. That ice on the lake can move around alot!!

Last year, mid-Jan., we didn't catch a fish till 8am, then they went like gangbusters till 11. And again mid-afternoon.

I think there mood is going to be good because when its -30 degrees out I can start my GMC up and head out there some heavy snow and start drilling away.. can't wait! Should be fun!
