Has anyone ever hunted this strecth of the river? I was thinking of doing a float trip on this area. Or this this area a no hunting area?

I've hunted it for over 20 years and there are some great late season spots below the plant. In recent years the feds have posted some of the islands east of Monti for some bogus plant and bird nonsense so be carful where you set up. be ready for geese as well as ducks. when the small ponds and lakes freeze up it's hard to beat this area. Later in the year make another post and I'll narrow a couple of great spots down for ya.

jigin I used to hunt by becker alot by snuffys landing but they fixed it up so much that it got blasted with people so I found differnt places to go but I'm recently thinking that a couple of late season hunts are in order and I also used to hunt down by dayton but dnr and city said no more hunting you might be better off hunting from clearwater to becker I dont think there is as many restrictions on that stretch of river
I think that monti to elk river is no hunting at all

How deep is the water on the stretch from Clearwater to Becker? Never been down that far, only down till Clearwater Bridge

You mean how many rocks are there to hit if you try and go on plane from about Snuffys north for a 1/2 mile. Some tricky water.

Not to say there are not some tough areas above or below that.

that is what I figured. I fish from Blanchard to Clearwater bridge and its amazing how variable the depth can be.

I was thinking of floating to one of the islands then set some dek's. I think may have to wait until next year. Spend the next year scouting it out. Don't need to be written up in cuffs and collars.

Season ends Tuesday: if a guy were to throw out a few goose floaters as a last ditch effort - any suggestions? What about the Otsego area?

Had the same idea so I spoke to Mitch the C.O. in Big Lake today and he said that area is closed to hunting and they are not issuing any "back permits" whatever that means. He said that basically south of snuffys landing is regulated by the local cities and it would not be lawful to hunt.

That is too bad you can't hunt it. There have been some birds in that area lately.
