I like using a lipless crankbait -minus hooks for a weight.

Now would you fish the Dubuque rig like verticle jigging? or just dragging? Would the 3way interfere with the senstivity of the rig? This is very interesting rig, would helps me go down to 1 rod

Hi Guys, I have only fished the St. Croix a few times out of Hudson this year because I live in Southern Minnesota, so I had to read the reg's again so I knew what I could and couldn't do on a border water. According to page 51 of the reg book, it states
WISCONSIN–MINNESOTA Regulations • Two lines with a single lure or bait on each are permitted. If fishing with one line you may use two baits.
I have not tried using a heavier jig as my weight on a 3 way, but if I interpret the above reg correctly, this means you could use this set-up if you were using just one line.
Am I interpretting this statement correctly?. I am coming up there in 2 weeks so I want to make sure I am legal.
Thanks for any help here.

Old Louie, you sound more legal than most. Rigging as you suggest is 100% legal.

yes, you can have 2 lines with a single bait each or 1 line with 2 baits. I almost had to learn this the hard way by river patrol a couple seasons back. If you are going to do the one 1 2 baits, make sure the rest of your rods are some what stored away

Yes, Cldboater, I really don't want to be one of those guys you have heard about who had to learn the rules the hard way. I can't wait to run up there next week with my son to spend the day fishing. I have only launched out of Hudson, but am going to see if I can get to the bluffs yet this year also. Thanks for all the good blogs. I read them daily to keep in touch about water temps and daily action. Again thanks for all the good info guys!!
